Leeds United legend Lucas Radebe has taken to Twitter to send the Elland Road club an emotional message of support ahead of the final regular fixture of the Championship season.

The Whites are unable to finish any higher than third in the table following last weekend’s games, in which Norwich City and Sheffield United clinched the top two spots and automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds were in the automatic promotion places for much of the season but inconsistent form since the start of 2019 has eventually cost them dear, and as such they will have to take the playoff route.

Radebe played for the Elland Road outfit between 1994 and 2005 – one of just two clubs he’s been at along with South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs – and in 2010 said the only club he would ever manage is Leeds (BBC Sport).

On Wednesday, he posted the following tweet, which the Whites official account retweeted:

Some Leeds fans responded to him on the social media platform:

Marcelo Bielsa’s charges will wrap up their regular programme with a trip to already relegated Ipswich Town on Sunday.
