Leeds United simply had to get a result on Saturday afternoon following wins for their Championship title rivals in the weekend’s earlier kickoffs, and they did just that with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

The day before, Norwich City edged five points ahead at the top of the table with their 1-0 win over Swansea City, while Sheffield United had beaten Rotherham United 2-0 in the lunchtime kickoff at Bramall Lane, nudging the Whites into third.

Over to Leeds and, in the south west, Patrick Bamford settled nerves early on by netting in the ninth minute, converting Luke Ayling’s knockdown from close range for his fourth goal in as many games.

Bamford’s goal wasthe only one of the game, and though the Robins did not prove to be the toughest opponents faced by Marcelo Bielsa’s side this term, they applied pressure in the late stages of the match and made for a very nervy finish.

Nevertheless, Leeds defended stoutly and were good value for all three points, which put them back up to second and two points behind the Canaries with just 10 games left of the regular season.

One player who got a lot of acclaim was Jack Harrison, who impressed on the left wing, particularly in the second half when he skilfully weaved past a number of City defenders before setting up Tyler Roberts in the box.

Here is some of the Twitter reaction surrounding the player, who joined Man City from New York City FC in 2018 for a reported £3.6million (Transfermarkt):
