The Whites ace spoke in the aftermath of the Championship loss to Brentford, urging the Elland Road side to keep the faith.

Leeds Manager Marcelo Bielsa instructs his team during the Sky Bet Championship match between Brentford and Leeds United at Griffin Park on April 22, 2019 in Brentford, England.

Leeds United’s hopes of automatic promotion from the Championship are now out of their hands following their lacklustre 2-0 defeat at Brentford on Easter Monday.

At Griffin Park, Neal Maupay fired the hosts in front in the first half, after Marcelo Bielsa’s side had earlier been controversially denied a penalty when Patrick Bamford was hauled down by Julian Jeanvier.

The Whites then conceded again just after the hour mark when Sergi Canos tucked home and Bielsa’s boys could not muster a response as they slipped to three points behind second-placed Sheffield United with just two games to go.

Needless to say, the atmosphere amongst the fans at Elland Road has taken a downturn, with the prospect of having to navigate the playoffs becoming closer to reality, barring victory in their last two fixtures combined with the current top two faltering massively.

That said, it’s by no means insurmountable, with six points still to play for and the Championship having shown time and time again that the unexpected can and does happen – indeed, leaders Norwich have failed to win in their last four games.

On Tuesday, the Leeds Twitter account posted a graphic featuring a quote by Pablo Hernandez, namely “the harder the road gets, the more stronger and united we will be”:

Here is how some of the Whites faithful reacted to the Spaniard’s comments:

Leeds’ final two games of the regular Championship season see them host Aston Villa in Sunday’s midday kickoff before travelling to Ipswich Town the following Sunday.
