Leeds United fans react on Twitter to Barry Douglas season-ending injury news

The Whites left-back ruptured the medial ligament in his knee during Saturday’s Championship win against Millwall.

Leeds United have had to deliver some bad news to the fanbase on Tuesday morning as it was confirmed that Barry Douglas would be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

The club announced in an article on their official website that the 29-year-old ruptured the medial ligament in his knee during Saturday’s Championship 3-2 win against Millwall at Elland Road.

Douglas came on at half-time against the Lions, replacing Ezgjan Alioski, and put in an impressive performance as the Whites came from 2-1 down to put themselves back into the top two in the Championship.

Indeed, the Scotland left-back played a big role in Leeds’ comeback, claiming his fifth assist of the season as he set up Luke Ayling with a great cross for the equaliser against Neil Harris’s side, but unfortunately he will now be out of action for two to three months.

Douglas has endured a very difficult season, with injuries seeing him miss out on plenty of game time, but while fit, Marcelo Bielsa has utilised him plentifully, as per his Transfermarkt 2018-19 stats page which shows he put in a lot of 90-minute performances earlier in the season.
