The Whites full-back endured a difficult first season at Elland Road amid injury issues.

Barry Douglas of Leeds United looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Middlesbrough at Elland Road on August 31, 2018 in Leeds, England.

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to express their hopes of Barry Douglas making a big impact at Elland Road next season – with a few also hoping he can put his Wolverhampton Wanderers contacts book to good use – following his interview with the Whites official website.

The 29-year-old joined the Championship club last summer for £3.06million (Transfermarkt) having helped the Molineux side get promoted to the Premier League as second-tier champions but last term proved difficult for the player.

A number of injuries saw Douglas miss out on considerable amounts of game time, but while fit, Marcelo Bielsa utilised him plentifully, as per his Transfermarkt 2018-19 stats page which shows he put in a lot of 90-minute performances earlier in the season.

The once-capped Scotland international has spent much of the off-season doing rehabilitation from the injury he picked up in March which ruled him out of the remainder of the season, telling the Leeds website of his time in Portugal and Dubai working with physios.

“I’m at the last step now, I’m just progressing to contact and striking the ball again, but I’ve got pre-season and time on my hands, so I’m not going to try and speed up that process, it will come all in good time,” said Douglas.

Here is how some of the Elland Road faithful responded on the social media platform, with some hoping for big things from him in 2019-20:

Some others, meanwhile, hoped he could put in a good word for reported target Helder Costa (BBC Sport):
