Leeds United signed Kiko Casilla from Real Madrid during the January transfer window.

A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to react to Real Madrid’s stunning exit from the Champions League on Tuesday night – with many joking that Kiko Casilla’s January move to Elland Road was the key reason for their exit.
Los Blancos were stunned at the Bernabeu by Ajax. Madrid took a 2-1 lead into the second-leg, and despite going into the game off the back of back-to-back defeats to Barcelona, most would have expected the club to comfortably book their place in the quarter-final of the competition.
However, Ajax had not read the script and produced an incredible 4-1 win that will be remembered for a very long time. Madrid fans will unquestionably be wondering what is going on right now.
But Leeds supporters appear to feel that they know the answer – with several suggesting that it was the decision to sell Casilla to the Championship promotion-chasers that has cost the La Liga giants.

Despite rarely playing, Casilla won a Champions League winner’s medal in each of the three full seasons he was at the Bernabeu, and they have been knocked out of the competition for the first time since 2015 less than two months after the goalkeeper left the club.
While the comments are clearly made with tongue very much in cheek, it must be noted that Thibaut Courtois will be expecting plenty of criticism for Ajax’s fourth goal which saw a wide free-kick sail over his head and into the net.
