Leeds United were knocked out of the FA Cup third round by a League Two side and most of the squad has been slammed by the fans.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga
Leeds fans have been reacting on Twitter after watching Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s display in their FA Cup defeat to Newport County on Sunday – and it appears that most would not mind if the game at Rodney Parade was his final appearance for the Whites.
Lasogga was picked up front alongside Jay-Roy Grot as Thomas Christiansen made a host of changes for the tie with the League Two side, and it appeared that the Championship side may be on their way to booking their place in the fourth round as Gaetano Berardi broke the deadlock with a long-range strike during the first-half.

However, Newport were the better side for the majority of the game and they got their rewards with 14 minutes to go as Conor Shaughnessy scored an own goal. At that stage, it appeared that the best that Leeds could hope for would be a replay, with the home side in the ascendancy.
But Newport had other ideas and scored the winner in the last minute of normal time to spark incredible scenes and leave the Whites players who were at the club last season feeling a horrible sense of deja vu following their fourth round loss to Sutton almost a year ago.

Almost every player – except the goalscorer Berardi – was, unsurprisingly, slammed on social media after the game, and Lasogga’s display was one of the performances that seemed to attract something like the most criticism.
The German struggled to get into the game and resorted to taking shots from distance in the second-half despite often having teammates in decent positions. The 26-year-old has not scored for six games and has only managed five goals in total despite being seen as Chris Wood’s replacement at Elland Road.
While there was some sympathy for Lasogga as there was a lack of quality service from his teammates, the large majority of fans have grown tired of the Hamburg loanee and would like to see the deal terminated early so the club can get someone else in.
Here is the best of the reaction…
