Kemar Roofe’s struggles at Leeds United suggest Mo Eisa’s goalscoring record means nothing.

Two years after signing Kemar Roofe, Leeds United appear to have their eye on another League Two star.

Gloucestershire Live reported on Friday that Leeds would watch Cheltenham Town striker Mo Eisa in this afternoon’s visit to Crewe Alexandra.

The 23-year-old striker has netted 23 goals in the fourth tier of English football and although it’s a very decent return, it means next to nothing in the Championship.

Roofe, who joined from Oxford United in 2016, scored 26 goals in all competitions during his last season with the Yellows, earning his £3 million switch to Leeds that summer under Garry Monk.

But the 25-year-old has struggled with the step up in class to the second tier, netting 13 goals in 77 Championship games for the Whites. He spent much of last season on the left wing, but he has received plenty of chances through the middle this time around and, well, his goal return still leaves a lot to be desired.

According to Gloucestershire Live, Eisa would cost in excess of £1 million.

It’s not pocket change and Roofe’s struggles in the goalscoring stakes suggest that maybe, just maybe, Leeds should think twice about signing the Sudan-born striker, even if he impresses the scouts today.
