Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has been linked with Atlanta United.

Marcelo Bielsa manager of Leeds United looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Sheffield United and Leeds United at Bramall Lane on December 01, 2018 in Sheffield, England.

It’s all going well for Leeds United this season; the last things fans want right now is some concern over Marcelo Bielsa’s future.

The Argentinian has impressed since taking the reins at Elland Road over the summer, and Saturday’s 2-1 home win over QPR leaves them in second place in the Championship table.

One point off top spot and five clear of third-placed Sheffield United, Leeds are in a very strong position to win promotion back to the Premier League once and for all.

Now though, Leeds fans have been given something worry about; ABC News report that Atlanta United are interested in landing Bielsa as their new manager.

Current boss Tata Martino is set to leave his role having won the MLS Cup, and they are hunting a replacement, with Bielsa – a man close to Martino from their time at Newell’s Old Boys – a contender.

However, Leeds fans shouldn’t be worried just yet. After all, why trade in a shot at the Premier League for Major League Soccer right now? Bielsa is crafting Leeds in his own image, and his hero status at Elland Road should convince him that Leeds is the place to be.

A maverick he may be, but Bielsa is unlikely to trade in Leeds for Atlanta at this stage in the season, and there are other contenders in the running too; Clarin report that Argentinian duo Guillermo Barros Schelotto and Jorge Sampaoli are two frontrunners.

Bielsa is far from the only candidate, and those two are far more attainable right now, meaning that whilst these rumours are unwelcome, they shouldn’t be worried about just yet.
