Leeds United should forget about Duksch and Dabour and focus on Championship-based stars

Leeds United continue to be linked with more foreign imports but that would not be the right move.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Leeds United are interested in signing Holstein Kiel striker Marvin Duksch in January, while Red Bull Salzburg’s Moanes Dabour is also on their radar, but the Whites should be focusing on players with Championship experience who can help them finally get out of the second tier.

Leeds brought in a raft of new faces last summer, some proving to be far more successful than others, and it is time their director of football Victor Orta looked a little closer to Yorkshire for more new recruits.

After all, despite the success of Caleb Ekuban, Samu Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski, the majority of Leeds summer signings have flattered to deceive and some have all but disappeared already.

There is value to be had by looking abroad for new players, but that should not be to the detriment of the English game, especially when you think of some of the quality Leeds have missed out on in the last few years.

Bringing in another Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Pawel Cibicki or Jay-Roy Grot is not the answer and Leeds need to balance their risks with players who know the Championship like the back of their hand.

There are plenty out there, players who were available for bargain prices last summer only for Leeds to look elsewhere.

Now they have the chance to make up for some of their recent mistakes and it will be interesting to see how Leeds fare when the next transfer window rolls around.
