The Leeds United attacker has a lot to learn before he becomes a first-team regular.

After three appearances off the bench, summer signing Jay-Roy Grot made his first start for Leeds United against Burnley this week and Whites fans saw both the best and the worst of the 19-year-old.
It is worth remembering just how young Grot is – despite his physique suggesting otherwise – and there were plenty of positives to take from his latest performance; not least the way he used his strength to knock former Leeds defender Charlie Taylor off the ball and ultimately out of the game.

But he did not always use his stature in the right way and on too many occasions he was bullied off the ball when he should have been the one doing the bullying.
He also failed to hold the ball up effectively and, with many expecting him to blossom into an out-and-out striker, that is something he needs to learn sooner rather than later.
The Leeds youngster also needs to work opposing defences more than he managed on Tuesday night, while his aerial ability leaves a lot to be desired.

There is no doubt Grot has all the attributes to be a huge success at Elland Road. But it will take some time before that is the case and Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen needs to use the training field to ultimately get the best out of him.
In the short term, super sub status may be the best Grot can hope for when Leeds are picking their strongest side. However there were enough glimpses against Burnley to suggest he is one well worth watching in the years ahead.
