Former Leeds United star Pontus Jansson has sent a message on Twitter after picking up a first win as a Brentford player.

The Sweden international left the Whites to join Brentford earlier this summer after being told that he has no future under Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road.

Jansson, a huge fan favourite among Leeds supporters, helped his new club to a 1-0 win at Middlesbrough on Saturday, playing the full 90 minutes.

The 28-year-old sent a post-match victory message on social media and, predictably, United supporters responded in their numbers, but it was a warm reaction for the most part.

Leeds didn’t really replace Jansson, which might cost them at some point down the line.

Ben White, on a season-long loan from Brighton, is technically his replacement, but the young defender came in before the former Malmo and Torino star was sold.

It’ll be emotional for Jansson and a lot of Leeds fans on August 21 when he returns to West Yorkshire as an opposition player.
