Bailey Peacock-Farrell has played Leeds United’s last two games and performed well.
Several Leeds fans have seen Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s latest tweet as an opportunity to inform the young goalkeeper how well he is currently performing for the Whites’ first-team.
While it appeared inevitable that Peacock-Farrell would become Leeds’ future number one when he made his first-team debut under Steve Evans, Whites fans would have been forgiven for having their doubts about the 21-year-old over the last couple of years as he went into 2018 having not added to his sole appearance for the senior side, and having been joined by several talented goalkeepers in the youth ranks recently.
However, he was given a chance to show what he could do in Leeds’ clash with Wolves last week. And while the result was a hugely disappointing one for Paul Heckingbottom’s side, Peacock-Farrell’s performance provided one major positive as he kept the score down with some fine stops.
He followed that up with another extremely encouraging display at Reading at the weekend – where again, he made some fantastic saves as the game ended 2-2 – and must be considered the favourite to start between the sticks for Saturday’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday.
Heckingbottom would, of course, rather be in the promotion mix right now, but the team’s disappointing form is the key reason why Peacock-Farrell has been given his chance. And he is certainly giving Leeds fans something to smile about during a miserable run.
Understandably therefore, the young stopper did not need to include any words in the tweet that he had sent out to convey the message that he was trying to get across. And the fans clearly need little encouragement to heap praise on Peacock-Farrell after his return to the side.
