Matthew Downing has endured a torrid time with injuries, but the Leeds United youngster has posted an exciting update.

Ousama Siddiki has joined a number of Leeds fans in expressing their delight on Twitter after Whites youngster Matthew Downing posted a positive injury update on social media as he continues his comeback from a broken leg.
Downing has endured a nightmare spell with injuries over the last few years. And just as he appeared to be getting back to full fitness after 19 months out, he suffered another setback at the start of the year as he sustained a broken leg.
But just as Marcelo Bielsa’s squad are starting to return for pre-season, Downing has finally received some good fortune as he took to Twitter to confirm that he has now had the frame taken off his leg and is looking forward to getting back out on the pitch.
It is not entirely clear when the full-back will be out on the pitch, and perhaps getting the chance to impress Bielsa in pre-season training. But it is fantastic news that he is getting closer to being fully fit.

Unsurprisingly, some of the Leeds fans on social media were over the moon to read Downing’s post. And Siddiki joined the Leeds fans in sending a message to his teammate.
The forward – who joined Leeds in 2017 – suggested that this coming campaign was going to be Downing’s year. There is surely no player within the Whites squad who deserves some luck more than the defender.

Here is Downing’s tweet as well as some of the responses…
