Speaking on the Eleven Football YouTube channel, Danny Mills has compared the job Chris Wilder did at Sheffield United to Marcelo Bielsa’s job at Leeds.
Wilder is currently flying at one of Mills’ former clubs Middlesbrough, and he’s been full of praise for the gaffer.
Mills says that Boro now have a fighting chance of getting promoted, while he also compared Wilder to Bielsa.
What’s been said?
Mills was full of praise for Wilder.
“He’s waited and bided his time after being at Sheffield United, and he’s gone into Middlesbrough and given them a real chance. He’s beaten Manchester United and Tottenham in the FA Cup, two points off the playoffs and they’re heading in the right direction,” Mills said.
“Leeds fans really won’t like me for saying this, but what Wilder did at Sheffield United was not dissimilar to what Marcelo Bielsa did at Leeds.”

Even better
Mills says that Leeds fans won’t like him for comparing Wilder to Bielsa, but we’re going to go one further and say that Wilder did a better job at Bramall Lane than Bielsa did at Elland Road.
Wilder took a mid-table League One side and turned them into a mid-table Premier League team. Beating Bielsa’s Leeds to promotion in the process.
You may disagree with what we’re saying, but Bielsa himself said that he wants to learn from Wilder and that his tactics bamboozled him.
“The way that he manages to set up his team awakens interest in me to learn from him,” Bielsa said.
“I would say the Sheffield United head coach is someone with new ideas and I have seen very few people with these ideas.”
“I saw things in Sheffield United that I wanted to develop and I couldn’t do it, I don’t know the history of the head coach, but he has done very well.”
Wilder is one of the best managers in the country, and there’s no shame in Bielsa being compared to the current Boro boss.
