The Whites left-back featured against Norwich but a club retweet about his season stats did not go down well among some Leeds fans.
Alarm bells have begun ringing loudly among the Leeds United fanbase after they fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Norwich City on Saturday.
Since the start of the year, the Whites’ form has wobbled, with January yielding three defeats in all competitions – the 4-2 Championship loss to Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Day, the 2-1 defeat at Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup and the 2-1 league loss at Stoke City (official Leeds website).
Although Leeds did beat Derby County 2-0 and seemed to have got their form back on track with a 2-1 win at Rotherham United, their huge clash against their title rivals culminated on a painful loss which saw the two teams switch positions in the top two of the standings.
Barry Douglas came on as a half-time substitute in the second half at Elland Road and managed to register an assist for Patrick Bamford, who scored a consolation for the Whites late on, although the Yorkshire Evening Post still gave him a 5/10 rating and said “his combination with Alioski on the left did little to change the game”.
The official Leeds Twitter account retweeted a StatZone tweet which focused on Douglas, noting he now has four assists in the Championship, plus looked at things like key passes, passing accuracy and crosses made:
However, given how the Elland Road faithful are starting to feel anxious about how the team has been performing since the turn of the year, some fans were critical of the player and of the tweet:
