A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports coming from FotbollDirekt which have suggested that Marcus Antonsson’s Elland Road future is up in the air as the striker attracts attention from several Swedish clubs.

Antonsson’s Leeds career has never really got off the ground. The £2 million signing – fee reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post – looked bright during his first few appearances for the Whites, scoring in the win over Sheffield Wednesday, but then found starts incredibly difficult to come by when Garry Monk switched to a system that involved just one striker.

Thomas Christiansen allowed the 27-year-old to head on loan to Blackburn Rovers last summer, and for several of the early months of this past season, it did appear that Leeds would be left to rue the decision to let him go as he scored a number of goals for the League One side.

Unfortunately for Antonsson, his form went off the boil and he seemed to fall out of favour at Ewood Park also. On the other hand, Leeds’ other striker issues may have left many fans expecting Paul Heckingbottom to perhaps hand Antonsson another chance upon his return to his parent club this summer.

While that may still happen, it would appear that the forward could be offered the chance to return to his native country, with FotbollDirekt reporting that Hammarby and Malmo are both eyeing moves for Antonsson as he edges towards the final year of his Leeds contract.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the rumours that Antonsson could leave on a permanent basis this summer have been met with a mixed response amongst some of the Leeds fans on social media.

The former Kalmar man has not been impressive since arriving in England and some are writing him off ever becoming a success. However, there are also others who feel that he has not been given a fair chance at Leeds and given how some of his rivals struggled for the Whites this past season, there are those who feel that keeping Antonsson and selling the likes of Caleb Ekuban and Jay-Roy Grot would be a better move.

Here is what some of the Leeds fans made of the reports linking Antonsson with a move away…
