Leeds United are reportedly keen on Manchester City’s Angus Gunn.
Leeds United need a host of reinforcements this summer, and signing a new goalkeeper has to be a top priority for manager Paul Heckingbottom and director of football Victor Orta.
The Whites lost Robert Green last summer and attempted to replace him with Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan, but neither shot-stopper impressed, with Wiedwald something of a disaster following his move from Werder Bremen.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell filled in well towards the end of the season, but finding another goalkeeper is imperative for Leeds – and they look to be seeking a loan deal.
The Yorkshire Evening Post report that Leeds are interested in signing Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn, and want to take him on a season-long loan move.
Gunn, 22, spent this season on loan with hometown Norwich City, having left the Canaries for City in 2011, and he impressed throughout the campaign, even earning a call-up to the England squad in November.
Gunn will return to City this summer, but with Ederson the undoubted first choice at the Etihad Stadium, Gunn may be loaned out again this summer.
Leeds hope to take advantage by bringing him to Elland Road, and most Whites fans are happy with the pursuit, taking to Twitter to claim that he is much more like it in terms of a Leeds target, after some underwhelming names were mentioned.
Others think it’s a strange move given Peacock-Farrell’s rise, but many feel that Gunn is a ‘very good’ goalkeeper who can come in and be the first choice stopper Leeds have lacked over the last 12 months.
