Leeds United are one of the sides reportedly interested in signing Nick Powell in the final days of the transfer window.

Leeds are reportedly amongst the cluster of sides considering a late attempt to sign Wigan Athletic talisman Nick Powell this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

The Whites currently top the Championship and are attracting plaudits from all directions for the style of play that Marcelo Bielsa is encouraging. Pontus Jansson and Gaetano Berardi are the only outfield players in the squad who have started a league game this term and are yet to contribute a goal or assist.

Nevertheless, it would appear that Leeds want to add to their attacking options before the window shuts. TEAMtalk reports that Powell is a target as his contract runs into its final year.

The report suggests that a cluster of sides are looking at completing a deal that would see the former Manchester United man leave on loan before completing a permanent move in January. The Latics are said to want around £5 million for the forward, who has scored three and provided three assists in the league following Wigan’s promotion.

In response to the news, a number of Leeds fans appear to be delighted about the idea of Bielsa bringing Powell in. The 24-year-old has the potential to be one of the best attacking players in the division, and it seems that some of the Elland Road faithful believe that he would realise that potential by joining the Whites.

It would be a remarkable deal if Wigan did decide to let him go at this stage of the summer – hence why some Leeds fans are not entirely sure on the rumours – but some of the Whites supporters certainly like the idea of the club getting Powell in as they look to capitalise on their fantastic start.
