Patrick Bamford helped Leeds United get off to a winning start in the Championship.

Leeds United got their Championship season off to a fine start by beating Bristol City 3-1 at Ashton Gate.
The imminent departure of Kemar Roofe provided an interesting subplot for the game after Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa confirmed that the striker was set to leave.
That put a lot more pressure on starting striker Patrick Bamford, Leeds’ only fit and senior centre-forward now, but the often-slammed star silenced his critics with a brilliant display.
Bamford, a £7 million signing from Middlesbrough last summer [The Daily Mail], made it 2-0 in the second half by heading home following great work from Pablo Hernandez, who opened the scoring in fine fashion.
The 25-year-old striker had a rotten end to last season, having lost form at precisely the wrong time and found himself banned for two games after his theatrics against Aston Villa.
As a result, he lost a bit of clout with fans of the Elland Road club, but so many were complimentary toward him this evening.
Andreas Weimann pulled one back for the hosts with 10 minutes to go, but it was a mere consolation on an otherwise excellent day for Leeds and Bielsa, the Roofe bombshell aside.
Despite Bamford’s display, Leeds fans will want another striker to replace the Anderlecht-linked Roofe, who was the Whites’ top goalscorer last term.
