Leeds United fans are reacting on Twitter to seeing a blast from the past last night.

Marcus Antonsson left Leeds last summer after a dismal two-year spell on the Whites’ books.

The Swedish striker, a £2 million signing under Garry Monk in 2016 [Yorkshire Evening Post], joined Malmo in his homeland and the Europa League brought him back to English shores last night.

The 27-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Malmo lost 3-0 at Chelsea – a game that Leeds centre-back Pontus Jansson attended, having began his career with the Swedish outfit.

Here’s how fans of the Elland Road side reacted to seeing their former striker, who managed three goals in 21 games for United across all competitions.

Antonsson, who has 10 goals in 15 starts this season, never had a chance to succeed at Leeds really.

Some very good strikers would’ve struggled to play regularly under Monk, who had an inspired Chris Wood that wound up scoring 30 times during the 2016-17 campaign.

He joined Blackburn Rovers on a season-long loan for the 2017-18 campaign, but a lukewarm spell in League One wasn’t enough to save his career in West Yorkshire.
