Leeds United edged out Bristol City at Elland Road today.
Quite a few Leeds United fans on Twitter are trolling manager Lee Johnson over his comments following Bristol City’s 2-0 defeat at Elland Road.
During a post-match press conference [Bristol Post], Johnson claimed that ‘lucky’ Leeds had ‘gotten away’ with the victory this afternoon.
Kemar Roofe opened the scoring on 69 minutes after Josh Brownhill’s second-half red card, before Pablo Hernandez made sure of the three points late on.
According to BBC Sport, Leeds 63% possession and six shots on target compared to the Robins’ one.
And here’s how fans of the West Yorkshire club reacted to Johnson’s assessment that the Whites were fortunate.
Despite the stats, Johnson may have a point. Marcelo Bielsa’s side were very clearly finding a goal hard to come by before Brownhill’s red card on 55 minutes.
United still might’ve won had Brownhill stayed on the pitch – we’ll never know – but the numerical advantage was significant for the hosts, who moved second in the Championship as a result of the three points.
The manner of the win aside, it was a brilliant way for Bielsa’s side to bounce back, after losing 4-1 at West Brom last time around.
