Kalvin Phillips defended Leeds United team-mate Caleb Ekuban over his finishing and fans have spotted a flaw in his argument.

Leeds United fans on Twitter have taken exception to Kalvin Phillips’s recent comments about Caleb Ekuban.
The Leeds striker has come in for a bit of criticism for his finishing this season and his wastefulness in front of goal cost United again in Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat away at Fulham.
Ekuban, a £500,000 summer signing (Yorkshire Evening Post), spurned a glorious chance to level matters at 1-1, but could not beat Marcus Bettinelli in the one-on-one.
But Phillips backed the former Chievo striker to find his goalscoring touch, suggesting that he is ruthless in front of goal during training games.

And fans of the Elland Road have pointed out the difference between being prolific when it matters.
You have to say, Leeds fans are spot-on.
It’s impossible to simulate the pressure of a real-match environment on the training ground and prolific as he might be behind the scenes, he is anything but a lethal hitman when it matters most.
The reality is that Ekuban could be staring down the barrel of a summer exit unless he improves in a big way. Two separate injuries have blighted his first season in West Yorkshire, but the 24-year-old, who has one goal in 15 Championship games, hasn’t done the business while fit and he needs a big end to the season.
