It is fair to say Leeds United fans are pretty pleased with the news Pablo Hernandez is set to sign a new deal at Elland Road.

Pablo Hernandez is on the verge of signing a new two-year contract with Leeds United, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post, as his current deal nears expiration.

Hernandez has been in negotiations with the club for some time and there has been increased speculation about whether the midfielder would actually put pen to paper.

Leeds Manager Paul Heckingbottom looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Aston Villa and Leeds United at Villa Park on April 13, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

Manager Paul Heckingbottom has made it clear to the Whites’ hierarchy that the 33-year-old is in his plans for next season and as a result they are working hard to get the deal done.

Talks have been ongoing since March with Hernandez now just two games away from being able to leave Elland Road on a free transfer once his contract expires in June.

The Spaniard has been one of the major positives for Leeds this term, scoring nine goals and providing nine assists in all competitions, and is tipped to win the side’s player of the year award.

It is therefore perhaps unsurprising that fans of the Yorkshire outfit have reacted positively to this news that Hernandez is set to commit his future to the club until 2020.
