Leeds United continued their outstanding recent form with a 3-1 victory away to Birmingham City on Friday evening.

Two more goals from in-form striker Chris Wood and a late strike from January signing Alfonso Pedraza were enough to give Leeds all three points, rendering Craig Gardner’s second-half equaliser a mere consolation.

While the usual Leeds players took the plaudits, one who came in for some criticism was Spanish play-maker Pablo Hernandez despite a late assist.

Leeds boss Garry Monk knows Hernandez well from their time together at Swansea City, but on recent evidence the 31-year-old has work to do to ensure he keeps his place in the starting line-up, especially with the likes of Kemar Roofe challenging from the bench.

Hernandez has scored four goals and provided eight assists for Leeds so far this season, yet recent outings against Ipswich Town, Sheffield Wednesday and now Birmingham have suggested he may need a rest.
