Leeds United fans react to FA Cup tie referee appointment

Leeds United are flying high in the Championship but, this weekend, attention will turn to the FA Cup as the Whites head to Queens Park Rangers on Sunday for their third-round clash.

Marcelo Bielsa’s charges go into the encounter at Loftus Road having lost their previous two games, league encounters against Hull City and Nottingham Forest.

Leeds had won the previous seven games prior to those two defeats, so they will be surely hoping to get back to winning ways against the side ninth in the Championship.

The Football Association has confirmed that Geoff Eltringham from Durham will referee Sunday’s 2pm kickoff in west London.

As stated in Soccerbase, Eltringham has officiated two Leeds games this season – the 3-0 home win over Preston North End in September and the 1-1 home draw with Forest in October.

The latter game proved controversial as Kemar Roofe appeared to have scored his 82nd-minute equaliser with his arm, diverting Mateusz Klich’s cross in at the far post, as reported by BBC Sport.

BBC sports broadcaster Adam Pope posted on his personal Twitter account about Eltringham’s appointment and his prior Leeds matches this season, and some Whites fans gave their thoughts:
