Leeds United had just one player named in the EFL Team of the Week.

Ezgjan Alioski of Leeds United scores his sides fourth goal during the Sky Bet Championship between Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion at Elland Road on March 01, 2019 in Leeds, England.

Leeds United made the headlines this past weekend with a thumping 4-0 win over promotion rivals West Bromwich Albion on Friday night.

The Whites raced into an early lead through Pablo Hernandez, before Patrick Bamford scored either side of half time to make it 3-0.

Ezgjan Alioski added a fourth from close range to seal a thrashing for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who recovered from a disappointing 1-0 defeat at QPR.

Leeds arguably had the result of the weekend, and it’s no great surprise that a Whites star made the EFL Team of the Week off the back of the result.

Macedonian star Alioski was named in the side, along with Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen, Aston Villa’s Conor Hourihane and Rotherham Semi Ajayi, among others.

Yet Leeds fans were completely bemused for two reasons; the first being that just one Leeds player managed to make the side.

Hernandez, Bamford and especially man of the match Tyler Roberts should have been in contention for the team, unless the EFL strictly stick to a maximum of one player per team.

Additioanlly, Alioski wasn’t even in the side as a left back, where he featured. Instead, he was placed in midfield in the XI, and Leeds fans mocked the team, admitting the selection on the whole was ‘baffling’.
