The Whites duo have both been ruled out through injury for up to six weeks. Some Leeds fans expressed their sadness and frustration on Twitter.

Leeds United had to break bad news to their fans on Wednesday afternoon.

Last weekend, the Whites claimed an impressive 1-0 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, Pablo Hernandez claiming the winner eight minutes from time.

In that Championship game, however, Leeds captain Liam Cooper was forced off with a knee injury inside the opening 25 minutes, Aapo Halme coming on in the defender’s place.

His teammate, midfielder Stuart Dallas, suffered a fracture to his foot, although he was able to see out the game.

Leeds’ official website has now confirmed that both players will now be sidelined for a number of weeks.

The club expects Cooper to be available “in under six weeks” while Dallas’ estimated recovery time is between four and six weeks.

Following the official Leeds statement, some fans took to Twitter to bemoan the bad news:

Leeds are already missing defenders Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi, who have knee and hamstring injuries respectively, giving Marcelo Bielsa a headache ahead of the busy festive period.

Between now and New Year’s Day, the Whites are set to play Queens Park Rangers, Bolton Wanderers, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Hull City and Nottingham Forest.
