The Aston Villa boss upset some Leeds United fans on Sunday.

As far as Christmas presents go, Kemar Roofe gave Leeds United fans the perfect one.

The Leeds markman grabbed a last-minute winner in Sunday’s pulsating 3-2 victory at Aston Villa.

Roofe gathered a poor defensive header from Ahmed Elmohamady and fired home to send United – who were two down at half time – back to the top of the Championship.

With that in mind, you could forgive the Whites players for their emphatic celebrations, but Aston Villa boss Dean Smith wasn’t chuffed by the whole thing at all.

The Villans manager quipped that the Leeds players had celebrated ‘like they had won the title’ in comments which didn’t go down well with fans of the West Yorkshire club.

Here was their reaction:

You can understand Smith’s frustration with the outcome, given that Aston Villa seemed on course to win all three points at one point and end Leeds’ five-match winning streak.

But there is nothing understandable about the comments. This was a big goal for Marcelo Bielsa’s side and one that might be remembered half-a-year from now as a defining moment for the promotion-chasing Whites, who have a six-point cushion in the top two.

Widespread, jubilant scenes are the norm after any last-minute winner, but this was something else and when the smoke clears, Smith will get this.
