This time tomorrow, Jack Clarke might be a ghost at Leeds United, a memory.
Tottenham Hotspur are poised to announce the signing of United’s 18-year-old Thorp Arch product on Monday, and it will hurt the Elland Road faithful.
Not that Clarke was a massive player for Leeds, because he only started four Championship games last season, but he is, after all, one of their own and to see him go before ever really establishing himself as a big star will sting.
It will undeniably leave a bit of a wound but, if rumours are believed, the Whites could take a big step toward ensuring that the bitterness subsides swiftly by making their first summer signing – and a brilliant one, too.
According to The Telegraph, Helder Costa has already said his goodbyes at Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Portuguese winger will be announced as a Leeds player next week.
It won’t make the fans forget about Clarke this early, but it would accelerate the healing somewhat and here’s how some supporters of the West Yorkshire club reacted to his likely arrival:
Costa played a big role in helping Wanderers win Premier League promotion the season before last, netting five goals and setting up six in the Championship as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side cruised back to the top flight.
