The Leeds United defender won’t face Brentford this afternoon due to injury.

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has made a somewhat worrying comment about defender Barry Douglas.

The Scottish left-back will miss this afternoon’s clash with Brentford due to a hamstring problem.

But the Leeds head coach noted that he ‘couldn’t assure’ media that Douglas would be fit after the international break.

He told The Yorkshire Evening Post: “He won’t be available for this coming game. I think he will be available to play after the international break but I couldn’t assure you of that.”

United, who sit top of the Championship, already have Kemar Roofe, Patrick Bamford, Pablo Hernandez and Gaetano Berardi on the sidelines.

Here’s how some Leeds fans reacted to the news of Douglas’s setback:

Douglas, who joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers for just £3 million in the summer, has been a revelation since joining the Elland Road club, but Bielsa has good options in the form of Tom Pearce and Stuart Dallas.

That being said, the Argentine will certainly want the former Wolves star back as soon as possible. Having five first-teamers on the sidelines is hardly ideal for a team chasing promotion and Douglas, as he has proven, is just as important as anyone in Bielsa’s best XI.
