Some Leeds United fans on social media have been reacting to Alfie McCalmont’s wondergoal for Oldham Athletic on Tuesday evening.
The midfielder has been sent across the Pennines for a loan spell this season, and while he’s consistently impressed, this goal was something else.
McCalmont hit a side-foot volley from outside of the area after a corner was cleared. Stroking the ball towards the goal where it struck the crossbar before bouncing over the line.
The goal was genuinely one of the best you’re likely to see at any level this season, and as you can imagine, it caught the eyes of Leeds fans.
Supporters were understandably blown away by this incredible piece of technique that was, dare we say it, Tony Yeboah-esque, and we can only hope that he’ll be showing this type of skill in the first-team sooner rather than later.
