Leeds United endured a frustrating afternoon as they could only manage a goalless draw with their Championship rivals.

Leeds fans have been reacting on Twitter to Samuel Saiz’s performance in their draw with Nottingham Forest, and there appears to be an acceptance that the Whites are lucky to have the Spaniard on their books.

Saiz has been out of the side recently due to injury. He made his comeback with a cameo in the hugely disappointing defeat to Birmingham City at the weekend, but it was against Forest that he returned to the starting lineup.

Leeds looked to be ready to put the St Andrew’s defeat behind them as they started brightly, with Pontus Jansson and Kemar Roofe both going close for the home side against managerless Forest.

However, it became more of a struggle for Leeds to put pressure on the visitors as the game wore on, and it often seemed to fall to Saiz to drive the team up the pitch and create some openings for his teammates.

Unfortunately for Thomas Christiansen’s men, his side failed to break the deadlock and had to settle for a goalless draw despite having a number of chances. And while the performance was largely criticised on social media – especially from those who tried to make an impact in the final third – there were a handful of players who received some praise, most notably Saiz.

The 26-year-old – who has nine goals in all competitions for Leeds this term – was often brilliant on the ball, and Forest struggled to keep him quiet, and that has led to the fans lauding him on social media.

And there appears to be a general feeling that Leeds are now under pressure to make sure that they secure promotion out of the Championship as quickly as possible as Saiz is surely not going to be happy playing in the second tier for much longer.
