A large section of Leeds United supporters have grown tired with Samuel Saiz after the Whites’ game on Saturday.
A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to express their hope that the club decides to cash in on Samuel Saiz during the summer after his performance during their win over Barnsley on Saturday.
Paul Heckingbottom’s men got back to winning ways as goals from Tom Pearce and Gjanni Alioski saw them run out 2-1 victors over the Championship strugglers at Elland Road.
It was not the kind of performance that will be remembered particularly fondly by the fans when the campaign concludes, with the youngsters, once again, outshining their more experienced teammates. And Saiz was one of those who endured a disappointing afternoon.
The £3 million summer signing – fee reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post – is undoubtedly Leeds’ most talented player when he is at his best. For much of the campaign, Whites fans would have probably been fearful regarding the chances of keeping him beyond this season. But after the victory over the Tykes, it appears that many would not mind seeing him leave this summer.
Saiz was nowhere near his best against Barnsley and was clearly criticised by his teammates on a couple of occasions, and when he was substituted in the latter stages, he did a terrible job of hiding his anger – though it is not clear whether that frustration was down to the decision to take him off or because of his performance.
There were several Leeds fans on Twitter who have defended Saiz’s actions, but the majority appear to be furious with his behaviour and feel that his form this year has not given him the right to act in such a way.
Saiz’s last goal for the club came in the reverse fixture against Barnsley back in November, while he only provided two assists since the turn of the year. And, of course, the six-game ban following Leeds’ FA Cup defeat to Newport came at a time when the Whites still had the potential to keep themselves in the mix for a top six spot.
And while no Leeds fans are denying his talent, there are several supporters who feel that the club should cash in this summer if they receive a substantial bid as not knowing which Saiz is going to turn up each game is becoming a big problem.
