Leeds United have announced how long Pontus Jansson will be sidelined for.

Leeds United's Pontus Jansson finishes the game in goal during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Sheffield United at Elland Road on March 16, 2019 in Leeds, England.

A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that the club confirmed on their official website that Pontus Jansson is set to miss the next three weeks after suffering a knee injury.

Jansson gave the Elland Road faithful a good scare at the weekend when he went down after landing awkwardly during the second-half of the 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United. With all three substitutions used and Leeds needing to get an equaliser, it became obvious that Jansson was badly hurt as he did not get to his feet immediately.

Somehow however, the Swede managed to see out the game. He was initially sent up front – and actually missed a glorious chance to bag a goal – and then went in goal after Kiko Casilla had been sent off in stoppage-time.

It has come as no surprise that Leeds have confirmed that Jansson will not be joining up with Sweden’s squad during the international break, and the Championship high-flyers have added that he is set to miss three weeks.

If he spends three weeks out of the team, that would see him miss the games against Millwall and Birmingham, which could be crucial as Leeds look to get themselves back into the top two.

It is rare to see fans say anything positive about the international break, but many of the Whites supporters on social media are now extremely grateful that there is almost a fortnight before Millwall visit as losing Jansson for more than two games would be a huge blow.

Some have suggested that they are almost relieved that he is not going to be out for longer. It looked a nasty fall, and of course, the obvious worry would have been that he may miss the rest of the campaign.

And plenty have expressed their hope that it is Gaetano Berardi that Bielsa turns to for the coming games. Kalvin Phillips has also played at centre-back this term, but the Swiss was outstanding in the opening weeks of the season, and if anyone is going to be up for the battle against the Lions, it will surely be the Leeds cult-hero.
