Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s hat-trick in a pre-season friendly did not escape the attention of some Leeds United supporters.

A number of Leeds United fans took to Twitter after Pierre-Michel Lasogga marked his return to Hamburg by scoring in their pre-season friendly victory. And while the 18-0 scoreline against Budelsdorfer suggests that the 2 Bundesliga side will not be taking too much from the game, it prompted plenty of discussion amongst the Elland Road faithful on social media.
Lasogga endured a difficult year on loan with the Whites. A stunning brace on his debut against Burton Albion hinted that he may prove to be an ideal replacement for Chris Wood following his summer exit, but his form proved to be incredibly inconsistent and he came in for a lot of criticism along the way.

He did finish the campaign with 10 goals, but no strikes in his final 10 appearances meant that there were not too many calls for his deal to be extended or perhaps turned into a permanent move – especially given the financial package that may well have been required to complete a deal.
Back at Hamburg however, Lasogga has provided a hint that he may be ready to shine in the German second tier as he scored a hat-trick against the lower league side in a game that finished 18-0.

No Leeds fans were getting carried away and suggesting that it was a major mistake to let the 26-year-old return to his parent club this summer based on one display, but there were some who felt that the striker’s performance highlighted that he has a lethal touch in front of goal and things could have played out differently for him if the side played more to his strengths.
However, there were also some Leeds supporters who joked that some of Leeds’ underwhelming signings should perhaps come up against the same opposition to build their confidence up ahead of the new season.
Here is what some of the Leeds fans made of Lasogga’s treble…
