Leeds fans have been lauding Pablo Hernandez on Twitter after his excellent performance in the Whites’ victory over Burton Albion that leaves Thomas Christiansen’s men sixth in the Championship.

It was a difficult afternoon for Leeds at the Pirelli Stadium, with the visitors struggling to make their pressure count in the final third early on, and going into the break a goal down after some poor defending saw the Brewers take the lead.

The second-half was a fairly different story however, as Leeds needed just 20 minutes to turn the game on its head – and it was Hernandez who inspired the turnaround.

After a very long build-up – which saw Burton goalkeeper Stephen Bywater booked for pulling down Eunan O’Kane’s shorts as Leeds attempted a different set-piece routine – Hernandez found the back of the net with a stunning free-kick that curled around the wall and left Bywater with no chance.

The turnaround was complete moments later when Ronaldo Vieira found Kemar Roofe with a sensational pass and the forward tucked the ball home with a great finish.

It was not the perfect performance from Leeds, but it was further proof that Christiansen’s men are extremely resilient and may be better equipped to challenge for a play-off spot this season. And the player who seemingly attracted the most praise on social media was Hernandez.
