Leeds United’s hopes of signing goalkeeper Karl Darlow appears to be off the table.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez told his press conference on Friday that Rob Elliot is the only goalkeeper Newcastle want to let leave in January.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that Leeds had enquired over the possibility of signing Darlow in the January transfer window.

Rafa Benitez told reporters: “We are not really interested in selling anyone.

“The only one (goalkeeper) that is available in the window is Rob Elliot.”

Karl Darlow of Newcastle United arrives prior to the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Crystal Palace at St. James Park on October 21, 2017 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Darlow was Newcastle’s goalkeeper as they won promotion from the Championship in 2016/17. He also has experience in the division with Nottingham Forest.

He has since lost his place to Martin Dubravka and has been sat on the bench all season.

Leeds want to provide competition for Northern Ireland international Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

The Whites will now have to look elsewhere unless Newcastle’s view changes.
