Leeds United have announced that Luke Ayling is set to be sidelined for two months.
A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that the club have today confirmed on their official website that Luke Ayling is likely to be out of action until January. Interestingly, there is a sense of optimism following the announcement.
Ayling had to be taken off during the first-half of Leeds’ Championship clash with Nottingham Forest at the weekend after a heavy collision. The right-back initially attempted to carry on playing, but went down again soon after and was replaced by Tom Pearce.
Having suffered a long-term injury when Leeds hosted Forest last season, supporters were extremely fearful that the news could only be bad and the defender was going to be facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The club have announced on their website that Ayling is set to miss two months after injuring the medial ligament in his knee. And while plenty of supporters are extremely disappointed, many are actually slightly happier after receiving an update on the situation.
Several of the Elland Road faithful feel that it is better news than they were expecting as they were worried that the former Bristol City man could be in danger of missing the large majority, if not all of, the rest of the season.
It is an injury that Marcelo Bielsa could have done without with his squad already being stretched this term, but many Leeds fans are much happier than they were expecting to be before the announcement was made.
