Leeds United have been named as one of the teams reportedly interested in signing Burnley defender Ben Gibson.

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to react to quite surprising reports from The Northern Echo which claimed that the Whites are one of the teams interested in signing Ben Gibson this summer.
Gibson’s future appears to be up in the air after a tough first year at Burnley. He made just one appearance in the Premier League last season, and The Northern Echo reports that the Clarets are open to selling the centre-back.
It must be noted that Burnley – who do not want to take a big hit on the £15 million that they spent last summer (fee reported by BBC Sport) – are happy to keep Gibson if they do not receive an acceptable offer. But plenty of teams are interested.
The Northern Echo suggests that Newcastle and the three newly-promoted sides are keen, while Leeds are among the list of Championship teams monitoring his situation.

The reports have been met by a very sceptical response from some of the Elland Road faithful on Twitter. Burnley’s willingness to keep Gibson suggests that they would have little interest in sanctioning a loan move, and thus, the Leeds fans cannot see where the money for an acceptable bid is going to come from.
There is a feeling that he would be a fantastic signing as Leeds supporters continue to worry about their defensive options. But it is fair to say that the fans will be very surprised if he ends up joining Bielsa’s side this summer.

Here is how some of the fans reacted to the links with Gibson…
