Several Leeds fans have backed Kun Temenuzhkov for a first-team chance after the striker scored a stunning winner to help the under-23s book their place in the final of the Professional Development League with a 3-2 victory over Coventry City on Monday.

Elland Road was treated to another thrilling game just over 24 hours after the Whites first-team played out one of the most incredible clashes in Championship history at Aston Villa at the weekend.

Carlos Corberan’s side went in front early on through Robbie Gotts, and Ryan Edmondson would put them back into the lead late on after the Sky Blues had initially equalised. It had appeared that Edmondson’s goal would prove decisive, but the visitors would equalise again before the full-time whistle as a long-range effort took a wicked deflection to deceive Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

With Coventry struggling for energy in extra-time, it looked as though there was only either going to be a third Leeds goal or a penalty shootout. And thankfully for Corberan’s men, it was the former with Kun producing an outstanding strike from the edge of the area to settle the contest.

Kun has enjoyed a fantastic campaign with the Whites, and his goal was a real touch of class from the former Barcelona trainee, who made his senior debut for Leeds in the FA Cup earlier this year.

And several of the supporters on Twitter have backed the 19-year-old to potentially feature for Marcelo Bielsa’s side again before the Championship season ends. Leeds face Ipswich Town on Sunday, and some believe that he should get a chance ahead of the play-offs, particularly if Patrick Bamford faces retrospective action following the Villa draw.
