Leeds United are reportedly expected to announce the signing of goalkeeper Illan Meslier by the close of play on Wednesday.

A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post on Wednesday suggesting that the Whites are expected to confirm the loan signing of Illan Meslier before the end of the day.
One of the issues that Marcelo Bielsa is seemingly hoping to address before Thursday’s transfer deadline is bringing in a new goalkeeper following Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s move to Burnley earlier in the window.
Leeds were in a tricky position. Kiko Casilla looked set to start the season as first-choice even if Peacock-Farrell had stayed. But with the Spaniard’s form coming in for criticism during the latter stages of last season, Bielsa needs a goalkeeper happy to arrive as an understudy but also be good enough to potentially step in if Casilla’s form dips again.
The signing that Leeds look set to make is not one that many would have expected, with the Yorkshire Evening Post reporting that Lorient stopper Meslier is set to arrive on a season-long loan.

Meslier has previously enjoyed a run as number one for the Ligue 2 side, but has begun the new campaign as the backup option at Lorient. It is noted by the Yorkshire Evening Post that he has been tracked by Chelsea in the past.
Nevertheless, the reported interest in Meslier appears to have confused some of the Leeds fans on social media. The Whites have a couple of talented youngsters in Will Huffer and Kamil Miazek, and so the decision to loan a teenage goalkeeper has been questioned given that he will presumably return to France at the end of the season unless an additional agreement is put in place.
