Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment after watching Thomas Christiansen’s men suffer a 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United on Friday night, and much of the criticism has come Gjanni Alioski’s way.

The Whites missed the chance to move to within three points of the Championship’s summit, as goals from Billy Sharp and David Brooks either side of a stunning finish from Kalvin Phillips saw the Blades pick up a three points that they thoroughly deserved at Elland Road.

A fairly bright spell in the second-half saw Leeds push for the game’s third goal before Brooks would bag the winner late on, but the performances of some of their attacking players – except Samuel Saiz perhaps – meant that their good play came to nothing.

One of the most disappointing performances on the night came from Alioski. The Macedonia international was extremely wasteful when he had the ball and often squandered chances that Leeds had from dead ball situations.

The summer signing has arguably been disappointing for a number of weeks now, having not provided a goal or assist in the league since August despite featuring regularly since.

His latest display prompted many frustrated supporters to criticise him on social media – of course, he was not the only player to be singled out by the fans – with many questioning whether he is destined to become the new Hadi Sacko, who incurred plenty of wrath last season for his inability to use the ball well by creating genuine chances for his teammates.
