Leeds United suffered a hugely disappointing 4-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship.

Leeds fans have been reacting on Twitter after watching Gaetano Berardi’s performance in the Whites’ heavy defeat to Wolves at Molineux on Wednesday night – and they were not impressed by the extremely popular defender.

Leeds went into the game high on confidence after beating Middlesbrough at the weekend – and they would have known that they would need every bit of that belief given that Wolves boast as star-studded a team as you can get in the Championship and are being tipped by many to go up automatically.

And Nuno’s men proved why they are so highly-rated as they ran out 4-1 winners against Thomas Christiansen’s side – though a second-half sending off for Ronaldo Vieira when the score was 2-1 did Leeds’ chances no favours whatsoever just as they were getting themselves back into the game.

It was a poor night for a number of players, but perhaps one of the players who endured one of the most disappointing nights was Berardi, who, once again, was used at left-back.

Berardi – traditionally a right-back – has predominantly featured on the left this term, and while some of his performances have been impressive, a couple of his more recent displays have been more underwhelming.

He gave away a crucial free-kick in the defeat to Brentford before the international break, and his mistake early on on Wednesday allowed Wolves to also score a free-kick from a very similar position.

And unfortunately, Berardi seemed unable to get himself back on track throughout the game, prompting several supporters to criticise the Swiss on social media and ask for Christiansen to make a change at left-back against Barnsley at the weekend.

Here is the best of the reaction…
