Adam Forshaw endured a frustrating afternoon as Leeds United suffered their first Championship defeat since early November.

A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Adam Forshaw’s performance during the Whites’ defeat at home to Hull on Saturday – with many calling for Kalvin Phillips to take his place in the midfield back.

Forshaw has enjoyed a good run in the team in recent months. However, more recently, he has been handed the tough task of stepping into Phillips’ shoes in that holding role with the youngster having to move into centre-back.

And while some of his performances have been impressive, he definitely struggled against Hull as Leeds suffered their first defeat since early November as Nigel Adkins’ men left Elland Road with a 2-0 win.

In fairness to Forshaw, Whoscored shows that his statistics were actually quite good, with 57 of his 64 passes finding a teammate and the former Middlesbrough man winning all seven of the challenges he attempted.

However, there were plenty of fans on social media who now feel that Forshaw – who signed for £4.5 million last January, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post – needs a rest from the side. Some have been incredibly critical of his display on Saturday, while others simply feel that he is not on the same level as Phillips in the holding role.

His apparent preference to knock the ball around the back rather than look to go forward leaves some frustrated, and a couple of supporters have even suggested that he is not good enough to be a regular starter in an automatic-promotion-chasing side.
