Leeds United returned to the top of the Championship with a 1-0 victory at Elland Road.

Leeds fans would certainly have been forgiven for not expecting Adam Forshaw to prove to be one of their biggest revelations during the opening weeks of this season after the frustrating year that he endured last term.
Forshaw struggled for much of the campaign, and was perhaps not helped by Marcelo Bielsa refusing to lose faith in the 27-year-old. But Bielsa is most definitely now having the last laugh.
The £4.5 million signing (fee reported by BBC Sport) has been outstanding this season, and was lauded by the large majority of the Elland Road faithful on Wednesday night after the Whites returned to the top of the Championship having beaten Brentford 1-0.
Forshaw seemed to be everywhere to help ensure that Leeds dominated the battle in the middle of the park. Whoscored.com shows that the former Bees man boasted the best pass completion rate of any player who started the game, with 52 of his 55 passes finding a teammate.

His ability to aid both Kalvin Phillips at the back and Mateusz Klich further up the pitch must have left the sides that Leeds have so far faced wondering whether they have been coming up against 12 players.
Bielsa transformed a number of players during his first year at Elland Road, and this campaign has so far suggested that the likes of Stuart Dallas and Jack Harrison are about to follow in the footsteps of Phillips and Klich. But perhaps, based on his recent form, no player is going to spring quite as much of a surprise as Forshaw will.

Here is what some of the jubilant Leeds supporters made of Forshaw’s performance against his old club…
