Leeds United are in the Championship automatic-promotion spots after a brilliant victory away at Sheffield United.

When Liam Cooper went down injured during the early stages of Leeds’ Championship clash with Sheffield United, many of the Whites supporters would have been forgiven for fearing what losing another centre-back would mean for Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
The Blades are one of the most ruthless attacking sides in the division, so the substitution that saw Aapo Halme replace the Leeds skipper would have worried many fans.
But, based on the reaction on Twitter to Halme’s performance in the 1-0 win, it appears that several Leeds supporters could not have been much happier with the centre-back’s display at Bramall Lane.
Halme settled well on the right of a back three with Pontus Jansson and Kalvin Phillips. He was given the tough task of keeping Billy Sharp quiet. And although he caused a couple of nervy moments, the youngster arguably did a superb job of stepping into the void that Cooper left.

In fact, several Leeds fans have taken to social media to suggest that they believe that Halme is a real talent after only his second senior appearance since his Elland Road move earlier this year. He often looked composed on the ball and made a couple of excellent challenges.
And perhaps he may get the chance to prove himself further now that there are concerns regarding how long Cooper will be out for. Cooper has been fantastic this season so they are big shoes to fill, but Halme’s display certainly provided reason for encouragement.

Here is the best of the reaction to the youngster’s performance against Chris Wilder’s side…
