Leeds United fans are not entirely happy with the reports that suggest that Victor Orta is set to remain at Elland Road.

Leeds fans have been reacting on Twitter to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s recent report that suggested that Victor Orta is set to remain at Elland Road amid rumours that he may take up a role with Deportivo La Coruna – and to say that the fans are disappointed is probably an understatement.

It is surely fair to say that no other figure at any level at Leeds has received more criticism from the fans than Orta has this term. After the first few weeks of the season hinted that he had done some incredible business during the summer transfer window – it is almost easy to forget that Leeds were the early pace-setters in the Championship – the former Middlesbrough man has seen his stock fall dramatically over the last few months.

Orta’s recruitment team have brought in some impressive signings for the academy ranks, and there have, of course, been some bright moments for the summer acquisitions who have featured regularly for the first-team, but they undoubtedly rolled the dice with some of their deals in the summer, and a large number of those have not paid off at all.

The likes of Felix Wiedwald and Jay-Roy Grot are amongst those to have come in for a huge amount of criticism during the campaign, and so news that Orta was being eyed for Deportivo’s sporting director role would have undoubtedly gone down well amongst the supporters.

However, the Yorkshire Evening Post has suggested that Orta has turned down the chance to return to Spain as he wants to carry on his work with Leeds.

Unsurprisingly, the reports suggesting that he is set to stay has not been well received. A number of fans feel that the club’s hopes of securing promotion next season can be written off already as they brace themselves for another underwhelming summer transfer window.
