Leeds United youngster Mallik Wilks has started his loan spell in inspired form, scoring in both of his appearances.

A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to laud Mallik Wilks after the Whites youngster made it two goals in two games since he joined Doncaster Rovers on loan until January.

Wilks scored Donny’s second in a 3-2 win at Southend on the opening day, and he was at it again on Saturday as he scored the opening goal in the 3-0 victory over Wycombe at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The 19-year-old found the bottom corner from outside the box with a brilliantly drilled effort that has certainly caught the attention of many of the Elland Road faithful, even after Marcelo Bielsa’s side stole the headlines in the second tier over the weekend with their stunning win over Derby County at Pride Park.

Wilks seemed to lose his place in the pecking order at Leeds in the months following his senior debut in that infamous game at Sutton United. It must be noted that the striker rightfully received an enormous amount of credit for playing in that game given the tragic events that affected his family in the build up to the tie.

A couple of slightly underwhelming loan spells last term seemed to allow the likes of Ryan Edmondson and Sam Dalby to really push themselves onto the periphery of the first-team discussion. But Wilks is clearly doing a fantastic job of wrestling that place back with his start to life with Doncaster.

A number of Leeds fans are extremely excited about Wilks’ potential after his excellent start, and it seems unlikely that his form will be escaping Bielsa’s attention if it continues over the coming weeks, no matter how well Leeds do in that time.
