Leeds fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news that the club confirmed on their official website this morning that Luke Ayling has signed a new four-year deal at Elland Road.

Despite arriving to little fanfare last summer, Ayling has proved to be an inspired signing for the Whites, arguably establishing himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet for both Garry Monk and Thomas Christiansen.

The former Bristol City man has won the fans over with his fine displays – you could probably count on one hand the number of times his performances have been significantly below par – often keeping some of the best wingers in the Championship quiet to help Leeds put themselves in the promotion mix during the early stages of the season.

Unsurprisingly therefore, the news that he has signed a new four-year deal, as confirmed by the club’s official website, has been met with an incredibly positive reaction from the fans.

Andrea Radrizzani has managed to agree new deals with a number of the first-team players, and after every previous deal was announced, there appeared to be at least some calls for Ayling to be the next player to have his contract extended.

And the news that Ayling is set to stay until 2021 will, in conjunction with the other contracts, arguably provide a further boost to Leeds’ chances of enjoying success in future transfer windows as potential targets will clearly see that the club are building the foundations to help get them back to the highest level.
